Ojcow NP

Ojcow is worth a visit every time we come to Poland. A beautiful limestone cliffed valley with historic buildings and a couple of castles. So off we went for a day trip and a walk along the valley and climbed one of the hills.

The smaller castle

Ecology taken to the extreme. One for Rick. Never cut a tree down..If it's in the way just build around it and make it a lounge room feature! This one was in a recreation/ tourist building.
dare u to try it!

Happy Campers!

All routes/tracks ...and there are many of them are well marked.
We still managed to visit the 'wrong' cave!

Old Nat Pk building

Holidaying is hard work! Check out the strain!

In Poland you don't get the finger ...just the lot...usually the fist.
This is a hand feature in the wall.

The "Dark cave". Why the name?
Well some years ago the electricals failed and there was no cash to redo so the authorities in their wisdom renamed the cave and issued the rangers with candles! SO in we went!

Well some of us just didn't like the idea of a dark cave! Jamie hung on tiiht and Ania's shoulder socket was almost out.

Neanderthall Man! Your ancestors? No ...not a real descendent..."we are not linked"...phewww...what a relief..........These guys apparently lived there 40 thousands of years back. 30k back they died out. Archeologists Palentologists found many remains of extinct and currently living animals, like the Wolf, bison, mammut and cave hyena amongst other creatures. Stone axeheads, knives were also located nearby. At the end of the impressive "this is a recording" presentation I asked if they found any Neanderthal bones or remains?
To my surprise the answer was NO!
assumptions........

Church over a stream.
If you are running our of real estate try the local river and build an engeneering masterpiece!

Finally arrived @ destination. The Hosts didn't like to pose

Great spot for a picnic. Not much public land around. Carparks are charged @ 6 zloty or $2.50 per stay..... Good income for the locals.

Zamek (castle) @ Pieskowa Skala. Courtyard above ...Great place!

Jmaie trying out a local turret. The kids got 10 gallowns of boiling oil to throw on the approaching huns! We settled for rocks!

The other side of the castle. Steep side!

The Helcules Club! About 25 metres high!

Till next time!
