Babia Gora

Meeting an experienced ice climber and guide was fantastik and a great bunch of friends even better! (Chris, Renata their son Chris Junior and Daniel).
It was time to abandon the family and climb the highest local Mountain on a couple of Beyer aspros and huge desire to see some sights maybee even a mountain goat or two. After a steep, muddy then icy start the track lived up and exceeded my expectations as the pics hoefully may convey! The day was perfect as it was unusually calm at the top! For a change It was also nice to get a few pics taken with myself in them. Yes - I did make the 700m+ climb along around 5km to the top.

The target! We walked from the saddle on the left.

Our Team - Chris Senior carried Chris Junior most of the way

First snack - we r out of the icey woods

Danie & me

Checking out the local Hills

UnfortunatelyI didn't miss out in helping Chris reach the top.

Snowey fun bit to climb.

Trying to find cravasse...no luck!

Trying to defy gravity - or Polish version of hammer throw.

Who made these footpaths? Great summer job for some poor bunny!

The Canon SX1 camera manual told me that it had a face detection trigger. Well they didn't say it had to be a big boof head ..... didn't work whn I just wanted a boring tourist pic....or maybee it was because we were in Slovakia @ this stage... Papal statue in the background...they r everywhere here....we live only 8KM form the late John Paul's the 2nd house (Musem now)

Trying to find a shortcut on the way down with the magic tatra's in the background!

Here's an Idea that zoomed low over our heads and climbed a thermal....... Just don't email Ania!

back we go............

PS on the way back we got about 3 varieties of Goralski (Polish mountainmaen) sheep / goat mountain cheese.....smoked....awesome! The guy made a fortune and was still there 6 hours later!

Anyway a great track.....Tatras in a few weeks...Probably after Italy & Switzerland....Poured today 20mm +
Green as!

Cheers
