Around Barwald

A few days ago I felt like a bike ride with the camera to check out what's around. Ideal sunny day.

This little pond has been a wildlife paradise for the kids! Lots a Frogs!
More on them in the next blog!

Pliszka

Once I biked up the next ridge I could see babia Gora and the surrounding ranges

The forest was waking up and alive with birds and new leaves which I enjoyed hotographing.

A Polish Barby on the roadside! Just bring your snags (vegelinks for some) and enjoy the views!

An abandoned house - deceased estate as I found out. The locals were wary of me taking pics. What I didn't know was that this guy who passed away owned a lot of land and had some money stashed under his mattress. GPS coords available on Request....call it Risky Geocaching!

Typical Local landscape.

Carting hay. You will have to wait for the horse and cart. Still a few around.

Our Residence. Top Right with the red roof!

Neighbour and his pigdeons. Wonder when he will replace that missing tile? Will keep you updated!

Ojcow NP tomorrow where the Club of Hercules is parked!

Babia Gora

Meeting an experienced ice climber and guide was fantastik and a great bunch of friends even better! (Chris, Renata their son Chris Junior and Daniel).
It was time to abandon the family and climb the highest local Mountain on a couple of Beyer aspros and huge desire to see some sights maybee even a mountain goat or two. After a steep, muddy then icy start the track lived up and exceeded my expectations as the pics hoefully may convey! The day was perfect as it was unusually calm at the top! For a change It was also nice to get a few pics taken with myself in them. Yes - I did make the 700m+ climb along around 5km to the top.

The target! We walked from the saddle on the left.

Our Team - Chris Senior carried Chris Junior most of the way

First snack - we r out of the icey woods

Danie & me

Checking out the local Hills

UnfortunatelyI didn't miss out in helping Chris reach the top.

Snowey fun bit to climb.

Trying to find cravasse...no luck!

Little babia Mt in the background

Junior doing his stuff!

Trying to defy gravity - or Polish version of hammer throw.

Who made these footpaths? Great summer job for some poor bunny!

babia on the left with Little Babia in the background

The Canon SX1 camera manual told me that it had a face detection trigger. Well they didn't say it had to be a big boof head ..... didn't work whn I just wanted a boring tourist pic....or maybee it was because we were in Slovakia @ this stage... Papal statue in the background...they r everywhere here....we live only 8KM form the late John Paul's the 2nd house (Musem now)

Trying to find a shortcut on the way down with the magic tatra's in the background!

Here's an Idea that zoomed low over our heads and climbed a thermal....... Just don't email Ania!

back we go............

PS on the way back we got about 3 varieties of Goralski (Polish mountainmaen) sheep / goat mountain cheese.....smoked....awesome! The guy made a fortune and was still there 6 hours later!

Anyway a great track.....Tatras in a few weeks...Probably after Italy & Switzerland....Poured today 20mm +
Green as!

Krakow pt 1

Hi everyone,

Krakow is a maginificent city! Could spend half my time these just walking the streets! Town of my birth could be one reason...but it's beauty, 1000+ year old heritage, and fantastik feel & food make it a great place to enjoy. Hopefully the pics below will give those that haven't visited a feel of the old city.

The turbo should be fixed by the end of the week and we can do some travelling FURTHER AFAR.
Everyone is well except caroline today as she had a tummy bug and now "feels like a feather"

Enjoy

Famous mariacki Chrch tower from which a trumpet player plays an anthem every hour. It is ended mid stream as legend has it after he cops a turkish arrow.

Slowacki theatre
Sukkiennice

Sukkiennice inside - full of small stalls selling touristy and folk stuff.

Amber is popular in Poland

Florianska gate

Soldiers getting out of the army celebrations

Twon Hall

Barbakan - a defensive wall structure -

Krakow Fire station building - one for Glenn!

Enjoy! Too many pics to post!
